  1. Thank you for posting the link!

You make some fun stabs at establishment. I like lines like, "Associate Director of Sitting on My Butt," and "Who's Not Who in American Caddying." This is just a small sample of a listing brimming with your voice.

Watch the extraneous words. You wrote "I would prefer if it weren't me," which could easily be, "I prefer it wasn't me."

Also, your specialties listed under the summary would be better served in the Skills & Expertise section.

Thank you for keeping us smiling.

  2. Very funny profile summary. Love the pic, too. In fact, I thought you took so much delight summarizing and poking fun at yourself, golf - everything - that I want to see more of that in your blog posts. I may be over reaching, but I really felt your Linkedin profile was closer to your true self.

As far as a new resume, I don't know how to comment (as you said on Comtech's blog). I think the essential here is how it impacts your web presence, overall. If you're consistent and visible to those looking for you, isn't that the "new resume?"

  3. The resume assignment is about structure. The hierarchy of a resume or search can translate back and forth. A resume is just many headlines or snippets. You can think about a website or blog structure in the same way. You can think about your web presence this way. What would you add to this structure if it was an online search for Otto? Would there be YouTube video? Clips of Caddyshack? A Tumblr of golf punchlines? What structures/formats are valuable to your voice?

I use the LinkedIn option to get you thinking about the formats that keep popping up. It seems like I can’t avoid Pinterest this week. Some students protest and say LinkedIn is pretty straightforward and professional. You can’t game that system. I disagree. People gamed Twitter with hashtags and now it’s a #cliché.

You should be able to pour your voice into any structure, sometimes remaining true to that structure, but sometimes altering the structure.

Again, comics are ahead of the game. Here I am preaching, make it concise, edit, edit, and your long-winded resume summary is very funny. This is a good first draft. You’ll come up with more and better material for it. You get the point, but realize this doesn’t only work with comedy. Any voice can and should transform.
